Protect the things we love

My son makes efforts to protect his cherished stuffed animal from the elements. When raining, he’ll tuck it carefully in his shirt and bow his head over the little lump to prevent additional rain drops from coming into contact with its covering. It’s incredible to witness; to consider at its most basic human level what it is to want to care for and protect the things we love.

Simple and pure, the ability to empathize drives our species forward.
